Backend Developer (Senior)

Join us as a Senior Backend Developer to play a pivotal role in a growing team responsible for building the foundation of a product that powers security programs for fast-moving companies. You’ll work across the stack (TypeScript, Node.js, GraphQL, MongoDB, React) — but will lean heavily into backend services and API development to close gaps, accelerate roadmap delivery, and help us scale with confidence.

This is a role for senior, self-sufficient engineers who enjoy solving ambiguous problems, owning systems end-to-end, and mentoring peers as we push the limits of our product. As a senior member of the team, you will be responsible for whole projects with strategic value, bring clarity to areas of deeper complexity, and empower a team to do its best work. Your scope of work affects multiple projects or streams of work. What you'll be doing

• Own and accelerate backend feature development, focusing on our REST APIs and ensuring parity with the web app
• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and SDK generators using TypeScript and Node.js
• Collaborate closely with frontend engineers and product stakeholders to enable seamless end-user experiences
• Drive technical discussions and help set direction and standards for how we build and scale backend systems
• Contribute across the stack as needed — while backend will be your primary focus, flexibility and curiosity are key
• Mentor less experienced engineers and foster a high-performance engineering culture
• Participate in incident response, performance tuning, and operational excellence

Your Background

• Have 6+ years of experience shipping production software, ideally in SaaS and backend-heavy environments
• Are deeply comfortable with TypeScript and Node.js, and understand distributed system design principles
• Have experience with MongoDB and GraphQL (or similar) in real-world, large-scale applications
• Can lead technical initiatives, clarify complexity, and drive projects independently
• Value pragmatic, maintainable solutions over perfect ones, and enjoy balancing velocity with quality
• Are product-minded and motivated to solve real user and business problems, not just technical puzzles
• Strong analytical skills with a methodical approach to understanding business contexts, requirements, and system architectures before coding.
• Excellent communication skills (C1 or C2 level) with the ability to engage and influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring clear communication, eliminating ambiguities, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
